What is the Wisconsin Republican Party’s definition of career politician and why are they covering for Robin Vos?
Just yesterday those of us in the new 33rd district received a BOOK of a mailer promoting Robin Vos, paid for by the Republican Party of Wisconsin (I wonder how much they spent?).
It’s a full 8 1/2 x 11 front page, two inside pages and a full back page.
There are several fraudulent claims in this mailer but the most glaring might be that Robin Vos and I quote “He’s not a career politician”.
Vos graduated from UW Whitewater with a political science degree in 1991 and by 1993 he had been elected to the Racine County Board of Supervisors where he served for 10 years before being elected to the Wisconsin Assembly in 2003, taking office in 2004 and then becoming Speaker over ten years ago.
The Republican Party of Wisconsin is claiming in the mailer that Robin Vos is not a career politician.
Here are some facts to take into consideration:
-As of the 2023 legislative session, “twenty-four are serving their first terms in the assembly. Seventy-six representatives have served for fewer than five sessions. The longest-serving member is Representative Christine Sinicki (D–Assembly District 20), who has served in the assembly since 1999 and is the only representative to have served ten or more sessions.”
-Robin Vos was first elected to the assembly in 2004. Vos just finished his tenth session in the assembly. The only person who has served longer than him is Sinicki.
-“Robin Vos is the speaker of the Wisconsin Assembly, the lower house in the state Legislature. He was first elected to the Assembly in 2004.” That’s twenty years ago. Before that he was an elected Racine County Supervisor for ten years.
“Political scientist Mordecai Lee, an emeritus professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, said “I think that Vos is in the fight for his life,” (June 10th, 2024)
Having been in an elected position for THIRTY YEARS and getting elected just two years after graduating from college, if that’s not a career politician what is?
Let’s swamp the Republican Party of Wisconsin’s Facebook page, Twitter and email requesting they define “career politician”.

Heck, feel free to call Robin Vos himself and ask him to give a definition of career politician. He provided his number for everyone, 262-534-9006.
“In the film Man of the Year (2006), Robin Williams’s character utters the lines, “Remember this ladies and gentlemen: politicians are a lot like diapers, they should be changed frequently, and for the same reasons. Keep that in mind the next time you vote.”
On November 5th when we head to the polls, I will be voting to change a very dirty diaper and to get rid of career politician Robin Vos. I hope you will join me.
Do you dispute that Vos-started businesses now employ 100 people?
