I met Orlando Owens at a school board meeting in Burlington, WI. Orlando drove all the way from Milwaukee to stand with parents who were concerned about CRT, “woke” curriculum and graphic books in our local schools. He had no vested interest in the Burlington school district, yet he cared about parents and students enough to come and join with them. In my opinion that is one of Orlando’s best qualities, his genuine care for people and his obvious love for this country.
Name: Orlando Owens
County Residence: Milwaukee
Q: What are three things you would like people to know about you?
I’m a born-again Christian.
I’m a husband and a father and own a real estate company. I have been in real estate for 15 years.
I work for Senator Johnson and have for the last 7 1/2 years and co-founder of The Joseph Project. Been involved in the grassroots GOP organization for almost 20 years.
Q: How did you come to be involved in the Republican Party?
I started to question the two parties because I thought I was a Democrat. I was raised with conservative values but was voting for the democrats. When I began to look into the party platforms, I realized that I aligned far more with Republicans. I have been voting Republican for about 18 years.
Q: You are currently running for Chairman of the Milwaukee County GOP, is that correct? Tell me a little bit about that.
Correct. The chairman is not seeking re-election and has been chairman for about 15 years. Milwaukee County is one of the largest counties in the State. The chairman is a fundraising, leadership and strategy position as I see it. We are the only county that is divided up into 6 smaller components, we call them branches. I am currently in my second term as chairman of the Milwaukee North branch.
Q: If elected to Milwaukee County GOP chairman what changes would you like to see happen in the county party?
I would love to focus more on Cudahy, West Allis, Oak Creek and Franklin. They are emerging conservative cities that we can be trying to get more votes out of. We’ll still focus on Milwaukee but want to expand in the surrounding cities. We have to do a better job in these areas. We put a lot of focus on Milwaukee, but we still need to expand our reach to the surrounding cities. I want to see us have a much more public face and a chairman that is savvy with social media. We need to make sure that the conservatives in Milwaukee County know that they have a party here and that it’s active and fighting for the things that are important to conservatives. I will be on the frontline with the people.
Q: What changes would you like to see happen in the Republican Party?
We need to be able to go out and connect with people right where they are. They aren’t running to the party Lincoln Day dinners, patriot groups or events, so we need to meet them where they are, talk about issues that are important to them and not just topics we think they should be concerned about. I will also be asking people why they are leaving the Republican Party. I think Republicans, county by county there should be a referendum on the ballot addressing issues that connect with local people. I think that would help the turnout of conservatives because I believe the government closest to you, local government, is the best and most effective government. By putting the power back in the hands of the people.
Q: You are the father of a young son, who is almost two and a 27 yr. old adult son, right?
Yes.
Q: What is your favorite dad joke?
I like dry humor and I like Seinfeld. I am working on developing my dad jokes.
Q: What is your best piece of advice for dad’s?
Love God first, love your family. Meaning a man and being a father doesn’t mean you’ll have all the answers, admit that, but work hard to figure it out and be open to taking wise counsel.
Q: Any last words you’d like to share with people wanting to get to know you better?
I still believe in God, I believe in country, I believe in family, and I believe in freedom, and I hope you do too!!
Orlando Owens is running for chairman of the Milwaukee County GOP. He is my friend and a man of integrity. Orlando is, in my individual opinion, exactly what we need more of in the Republican Party. His charisma and energy are contagious. I would encourage you to spend some time around Orlando. If you are in Milwaukee County consider joining the county party by January 25th so you can attend MCRP (Milwaukee County Republican Party) caucus and vote for him as chairman on February 25th, 2023. He has a willingness to communicate that I thoroughly appreciate, even when we don’t agree 100%. I would encourage you to reach out and connect with Orlando. His website is:

Don’t just take my word for it, it’s important to vet all candidates ourselves. Be bold, be brave, be willing to make changes!
I still want to know why establishment GOP put up John Leiber to run against such a good candidate as Orlando! Not cool!
