Independent isn’t a party or a club it’s freedom 🇺🇸
At the outset of our country the founding fathers, while imperfect, brought a whole lot of wisdom from their experiences in Britain. The two party system in Britain was turning the political environment tyrannical. The Whigs vs the Tories and both parties against the people.
Fast forward to 2024 and we are in an eerily similar place. The Republicans vs the Democrats and both parties pandering to the politicians over the people.
Founding Father George Washington warned us in his farewell address with a warning against hyper-partisanship: “The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism.”
While Founding Father John Adams warns about the dire political evil of a two party system:
In 2023, according to a Gallup poll, 43% of Americans identified as independents, a record-low 27% identify as Democrats, tying those who identify as Republicans at 27%.
Much of the fascination and appreciation of President Trumps came from his vow to drain the swamp on both sides of the aisle. I think that task has proven harder than he thought. But that’s what lit a fire under so many. The idea that we the people could come together and disrupt the biome of the political swamp.
John Adams said, “Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
“Morality and virtue are the foundation of our republic and necessary for a society to be free. Virtue is an inner commitment and voluntary outward obedience to principles of truth and moral law. Private virtue is the character to govern oneself according to moral law at all times.”
We can see clearly that neither the Republican nor the Democrat party embody the moral or religious fiber upon which our country was founded and the Constitution written. How long will we continue to give away our morals, virtue, integrity and principles to parties that do not represent us? Over 43% of Americans identify as independents. Neither Democrat nor Republican. We CAN return our country to a moral and religious country with the values and firm foundation it was built upon. It just means that we must stand firm on principle.
Morals are a set of values that you have and stand by even when it means standing against the crowd. Integrity means standing by morals and truth even when it’s uncomfortable or coming from a source you thought you could trust.
Not having morals and integrity means you can be easily manipulated into obedience for a reason as shallow as a letter by someone’s name.
James Madison wrote that our Constitution requires “sufficient virtue among men for self-government,” otherwise, “nothing less than the chains of despotism can restrain them from destroying and devouring one another.”
We don’t need to wait for the two party system to wake up, sorry to tell you it’s not going to happen, we can begin the process of returning our country to morals, honor, integrity, principles and virtues right now. Stop being manipulated into obedience within the two party system that our founding fathers warned about. Join with 43% of Americans who have cast off the shackles of the two party system, do your own research and vote on morals and principle. After all, even the Bible has warned about being in the world but not of the world. Does that mean we shouldn’t vote? No, by all means we owe a civic duty to our founding fathers and our veterans but when we vote we should do it as of the fiber of our country depends on it but our souls are secure. I have every confidence that mine is and my votes on November 5th will be cast out of education, research, morality, integrity and a firm foundation. No fear!
